ABOUT ME

Hi I’m Ellena and welcome!

I’m so glad you’re here and I’m looking forward to meeting you on the mat.

I live in Crowborough and offer yoga classes tailored to your individual needs, either 1:1 or in small groups.

I have dipped in and out of yoga for many years, but never really felt a proper connection until later in life. I believe yoga came to me when I needed it most.

Wanting to benefit from the obvious physical aspects of yoga (strength and flexibility), I started attending classes regularly, but it was the unexpected benefits off the mat that hooked me for good.

I felt calmer, less anxious, I slept better, I was more able to cope with stress, and I got to know and be comfortable with myself without judgment. I have never felt stronger, both in body and mind, or more at ease with myself.

YOGA

I teach inclusive and all levels Hatha, Flow, Restorative and Yin classes that are deeply rooted in my own experience of yoga.

Alignment and body awareness are key to finding strength and softness in poses while keeping joints and the body safe. Use of props is encouraged to feel the benefits of the pose without strain or discomfort.

The meaning of yoga is to ‘unite’, and Hatha focuses on the unification of the body and mind by using the breath.

The breath with movement is key to finding the mind-body connection that makes yoga the holistic practice that it is.

Breathwork is used throughout the class sequence to connect with the body, calm the nervous system and free the mind from external noise.

Breathwork (Pranayama) throughout the practice is based on traditional and ancient yogic practices, with some more modern Oxygen Advantage ® techniques included.

For those unfamiliar with Oxygen Advantage ®, it is a science-based breathing program that teaches techniques to improve breathing efficiency for better health and athletic performance.

It emphasises nasal breathing and breath-holding exercises to increase tolerance to carbon dioxide, which improves oxygen delivery and can greatly help to reduce breathlessness, anxiety, and stress. It also gives us tools that we can use at home and in everyday life, not just on the yoga mat.

Classes are offered for individuals or small groups within your own home. Mats and equipment are provided.
